On November 28th, the 2012 United Nations Global Compact Network China Annual Meeting announced that Sinochem Group’s case “Actively Fulfilling Social Responsibilities and Promoting Local Development in 'Going Out’” won the title of 2012 Global Compact China Best Practices Award. The meeting’ theme is “Leading and Practicing – Sustainable Development for Chinese Enterprises under New Situation”. Mr. Wang Zhongyu, Chairman of CEC and CEDA, Mr. Shao Ning, Vice Chairman of SASAC, and Mr. Georg Kell, UN Global Compact Director General attended the meeting. The UN Global Compact (UNGC) is the largest, highest-ranking and most influential initiator of corporate social responsibilities and sustainable development in the world, and also works as an important platform for corporations to exchange experience in the sustainable development and fulfilling social responsibilities. As a member of UNGC, Sinochem Group actively follow the ten principles initiated by the UNGC. In the process of “going global”, Sinochem Group actively fulfills social responsibilities, sticks to green and sustainable development, promotes the local social and economic development, improves employment and environmental protection, and builds a favorable image as “Responsible Sinochem, Responsible Chinese Corporate”. Sinochem Group is one of the enterprises which took the lead to “go global”, with its overseas investment and factory building dated back to the 1980s. In recent years, the company has brought full play to its international operation advantages as a “global resource and market organizer”, in order to comprehensively speed up its pace of “going global” and improve its internationalization level. Overseas projects of Sinochem Group are mainly located in Africa, South America, Middle East and other regions covering the fields such as energy, agriculture, chemical engineering. |
