Norwegian Minister of Climate and Environment, Andreas Bjelland Eriksen, recently visited Elkem's factory located in Thamshavn Port, Norway. During the visit, the two sides engaged in discussions regarding Elkem's climate strategy goals and its efforts in building competitive green industries and creating job opportunities.
Elkem is a leading producer of key materials for green transformation. Its silicon products are widely used in electric vehicles, solar panels, and other renewable energy technologies, being an essential component of industrial green transition.
The Thamshavn Port factory of Elkem emits only one-third of the global average in terms of carbon dioxide emissions during its production process. The factory utilizes hydroelectric power and is equipped with heat recovery facilities, which supply recovered energy to the local community.
