Elkem's carbon-free silicon production project receives funding from Norwegian government

Sicalo, Elkem's research project on carbon recycling during silicon production, was recently awarded 31 million Norwegian kroner by the Norwegian government.
The project focuses on carbon capturing and recycling during silicon metal production process, with the goal of eliminating direct emissions and revolutionizing silicon metal production. It has previously received 16 million Norwegian kroner in funding from the Research Council of Norway for the first phase of R&D work. Currently, the R&D work is nearing completion, and the project will move on to the testing phase.
